This award celebrates exceptional research by rising stars in the field of dermatology and offers a platform to share findings and network with dermatology leaders at the ADA Annual Meeting. The awardee(s) will present their research during the meeting. This year, the meeting will be held at the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia, from October 21-25, 2026.

Who Can Apply:

  • Residents or fellows in an ACGME-accredited dermatology training program. Resident or fellow applicants must have the approval and attestation of their chairperson or chief and research mentor for submission and meeting attendance.
  • Board-certified dermatologists within the first 5 years of completing their training.

2025 Early Career Research Award Application

This is the highest honor the ADA bestows on dermatologists who are third-year residents or fellows still in an ACGME-accredited dermatology training program, as well as physicians who are board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and in practice 5 years or less. Any research topics pertaining to dermatology are eligible. Finalists must submit projects that have not been previously published or presented. Applications are due by June 1, 2026.
  • The awardees will receive a monetary grant of $500
  • The cost of meeting attendance, along with hotel accommodations, travel expenses and meals will be paid for by the ADA
  • Residents or fellows in training at the time of abstract submission are eligible
  • Research may be presented elsewhere or submitted for publication but the selection committee
